Welcome

June 8, 2009

Welcome to my blog.  I have decided to join the rest of world and blog in order to share my life experiences.  What I write about will probably be of no interest to anyone other than myself.    You might find humor, you may learn something, you might just enjoy reading.  Please note that the names of people in my stories will be changed so that I don’t have to remove my foot from my mouth as I have had to do many times in the past.

The Yard Sale

June 8, 2009

Okay, we’ve all tried it.  And if you haven’t, take my advice, don’t.  The Yard Sale.  My big sale items were clothes that I purchased for my teenage son when he was in his preppy dressing stage.  This stage lasted for two years or $2,500.  Luckily, I had clothes hanging on hangers so I didn’t have to spend a lot of time getting them ready.  If I had spent a great deal of time preparing for this yard sale, I would have been very upset.  As I was preparing, I was actually counting the money in my head.  I envisioned the strangers in my garage looking through all of my son’s designer clothes.  Of course, they wouldn’t be able to afford to buy all of the designer clothes that were available at a quarter of the price I paid for them, so they would use their cell phones and call their friends who had sons around the same size.  I could actually see the cars driving down the street as they came to a screeching halt in front of my house.  Well, it didn’t happen. I spent the entire day alone in my garage and not one clothing item sold. Yes I did sell $100 worth of junk, which was spent in 15 minutes at the grocery store.  I spent 6 hours to make $100 and spent that $100 in 15 minutes!

As I was driving home last night, I saw a sign that read “Logan Downs Yard Sale June 13″.  Luckily, I have a graduation party to go to.
